Football Australia and AFC Recognition of Experience and Current Competence

An individual may apply for Recognition if they believe that their current football knowledge, practical experience, and/or current qualifications obtained from another Confederation or Football Association are equal to or exceed the minimum requirements of a specific Football Australia/AFC Certification.

All applications for Recognition shall be submitted to the relevant Member Association

The relevant Member Association shall subsequently deliver its decision to the AFC in accordance with Article 8 of these Regulations.

Please note, that a separate application form must be lodged for each certificate the coach is requesting to be recognised.

A fee of is required when submitting each application:

  • C Diploma fee is $150.00 (inc.GST) 
  • B Diploma fee is $250.00 (inc.GST) 
  • A Diploma fee is $500.00 (inc.GST) 
  • Pro Diploma fee $1250.00 (inc.GST) 
  • Goalkeeping Diploma Level 1/2/3 fee $500.00 (inc.GST) 
  • Futsal Level 1/2 $500.00 (inc.GST) 

The fee will be processed on receipt of the application. No refunds will be made if an application is denied.

Football Australia will not proceed with the application until payment is received.

Please note, if the certificate seeking to be recognised by Football Australia is issued by a Member Association (for example, Spanish RFEF) and not the Confederation (for example, UEFA), the applicant must answer 'no' to the above question and supply a letter from the Confederation confirming what level the Member Association qualification is in terms of the Confederation's coaching qualification system.

Letter of Support 

Football Australia requires a letter of support from the coach's issuing Member Association (e.g. English FA, Spanish RFEF, Germany DFB). 

The letter of support must contain the Member Association's letterhead, logo and signature of the individual issuing support.

In the letter - 

  • The Member Association must confirm the uploaded certificate is legitimate and valid. 
  • Advise that the coach is of a good standing and has not been banned previously by the Member Association or previously brought the game into disrepute.
